brimful of asha

tl;dr; brimful of asha

In 1997, the British alternative rock group, Cornershop, released “Brimful of Asha”. The song celebrates film culture in India where most films relied heavily on song and dance numbers. In these productions, the male and female leads often lip sync’ed the songs while “playback” artists would record and sing the songs. Asha Bhosle is a playback singer who has sung over 12,000 songs for movies and is referred to as “Sadi rani”, Punjabi for “our queen”.

The groove on this song is so smooth and sweet. Everyone wants a bosom for a pillow. Mine’s on the 45, indeed. Enjoy!
