day and night

tl;dr; day and night

In 1978, Jim Carroll wrote “The Basketball Diaries”, an autobiographical memoir sourced from his teenage diaries. It tells the story of his young teenage years as a promising basketball player and culminating with his time hustling, stealing, and drug addiction in New York City in the early 1960’s.

Carroll released his Catholic Boy album in 1980. This album had several hits including “People Who Died” which speaks of Jim’s friends who, well, died. We’ll talk more of this album another day.

I’ve loved “Day and Night” since the first time I heard it. I hope you like it too.

Day and night . . . the shadows start to scatter
When touched by light . . . each promise made is shattered
And even when the question find the answer
But even then, they’re something like a dancer
But even then, they’re something like a dancer
Like day and night . . . dark to light
I move from day to night
